Girl Talk is the Nightmares' second album, an independently produced 10-song project released as a pillow-fort-inspired, illuminated book object and available for digital download.
Angie’s irreverent, confessional storytelling and bluesy basslines are the backbone of the record, supported by the tasteful guitar tones and exuberant backing vocals of Aaron France. Sean “Doc” Campbell adds diverse musical talents including banjo and drums, while Anna Cole lends her ethereal voice and loose drumming style to several tracks. Laura Foxx sits in as well, with some extraordinary saxophone work. Jon Bartel of Northwall Studios in Atascadero, CA produced the tracks with a vocals-forward immediacy that captures the classic, gritty spirit of a room full of people making music. |

The album builds on the group's inaugural release If I Fall (2018) with songs that are more conceptually and musically mature. Written from the viewpoint of a woman in her thirties, the lyrics deal gently and humorously with a range of feminist issues; The delicate folk of “Don’t Ask” addresses the question “So when are you guys getting married?” while “Night Lite” pokes fun (in the form of a 90s pop-punk anthem) at the Rom-Com fairytale expectations around losing your virginity.
Answering the question “what do you write about when you’re in a stable relationship?” Girl Talk explores growing up, confronting adulthood, and processing the harsh, beautiful realities of life and love.
